OpenSocial

OpenSocial

The web is more interesting when you can build apps that easily interact with your friends and colleagues. But with the trend towards more social applications also comes a growing list of site-specific APIs that developers must learn.
OpenSocial provides a common set of APIs for social applications across multiple websites. With standard Javascript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network's friends and update feeds.

Opensocial is currently being developed by Google in conjunction with members of the web community. The ultimate goal is for any social website to be able to implement the APIs and host 3rd party social applications. There are many websites implementing Opensocial, including Engage.com, Friendster, hi5, Hyves, imeem, Myspace, Ning, Oracle, orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING.

C/CPP compiler in Orkut

Based on the Online C/CPP Compiler by SiddharthUpmanyu, i have made an application for orkut, by which you can compile, test and execute your C/CPP codes inside Orkut itself. Although it can not be classified as a real social application, however it is something that is quite interesting. Specially when you are looking for your solutions on the Orkut's C/CPP community, and you want to test the code immediately, without starting any IDE.
The XML file for app can be located here.

How to install this application

  1. Logon to http://sandbox.orkut.com with your sandbox account information.
  2. Go to the applications page. In the text area where, you are supposed to feed the URL of the XML file containing information about the app, paste the following URL.
